I've been reflecting on how fragile yet precious life is. Things we take for granted, like going to school, eating with friends, walking around freely, is all a gift in life we should cherish. I am grateful for every single moment of life.

I’m also grateful for how the government and school is handling this crisis, showing that lives are to be valued and protected, creating policies to protect her people.

I am moved by the doctors who volunteer to go to the frontline, the people who share what they have with those that lack, and the average citizen who stays at home and stays positive to help control the virus from spreading.

Some of your teachers are in Peter Hall in lock down just like you. Some are stuck wandering about in a different country, unable to come back. Some are home with family but also missing their SIAS family. Your SIAS foreign teachers have been working hard to prepare for online classes. We hope to walk with you through this season even if we are physically far apart. Every challenge is also an opportunity. I hope you use this season well to reflect on life, see that things can be done differently, and also grow as a person. We love and miss you, SIAS students!

I have heard about the China coronavirus. It seems to have affected the lives of everyone in China and many others around the world in many different ways.

I understand that the control measures that have been taken are to protect students and workers and to prevent the spread of the virus. I would say the measures are strict enough to protect us from infection.

Now, I’ve honestly REALLY missed my family (more than usual). However, coming to China was a dream of mine ever since I was little, so I am grateful to still be in China. I still have food, hot water, and everything that I physically need. OIA has done a great job to help and support the foreigners at Sias during this time. I am also very grateful that one of my really close friends is still here.

Things I have done recently include preparing for online classes, reading, hanging out with a friend, playing the piano, WeChatting with students and fellow teachers concerning the start of the semester, and multiple calls with my family.

I've heard of the corona virus. In the past few days, I've been getting ready for online classes. I'm excited to teach and interact with students again. I want to say to my students. Please be safe, and take the virus seriously. Also, it may be annoying having to stay inside so much, but look for the opportunity where you are. If you are with family, treasure your family, you may soon long for the time you have with them now. If you are with friends, enjoy your time with them.

Remember, this time will end, so press on! 加油!People around the world are praying for you and China. We are all hoping this pandemic will be over very soon and look forward to seeing you again soon!
